Barton informed the House that the New Hebrides question was under the kindly and favourable consideration of the Imperial Government. He was not at liberty to say more, owing to the confidential nature of the negotiations. THE PACIFIC LSLANDS. Replying to a query by a member, Mr Barton «t«ted that he had requested the Imperial Government to hold a consultation with Australia before arriving at any determination in respect to the Pacific islands.
