(Received July 3rd, 9.12 a.m.) LONDON, July 2. In connection with the maltreatment of J N. Botha, a member of the Cape Assembly, it appears that the Bosrs first sjamboked him before the trial and afterwards fined him. Commandant Fouche attacked McLean, in the Transkei district. Thirty farmers, however, kept him in check for''two days till Dalgety's Cape Mounted Rifles and Griqualanct Rifles arrived, when ths Boers scattered. The British hold Fouche's only routes of retreat. (Received July 3rd, 9.45 p.m. LONDON, July Z. Rimin'gton's Scouts surrounded and captured eleven Boers, heliographing from a hill at Petrusberg. Private Adam Blair, of th* New Zealand Mounted Rifles, was slightly wounded at Watervalhoek. Thr. steamer Orient sailed from East London for Australia on June 22nd with 860 officers and men of the New South Wales and Victorian Bushmen. * Private Robert McLean, of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles, was killed at Joodekoop. (Received July 4th, 12.20 a.m.) BRUSSELS, July 3. Andries De Wet, claiming to be a nephew of Christopher De Wet, has been arousing anti-British demonstrations in Brussels and Ghent, alleging military atrocities in the Transvaal. The police warned him that he would be expelled if he continued his propaganda. De Wet thereupon started for Paris.
