CONGRATUALATIONS ON THE PREMIER'S BIRTHDAY.
The following telegram was received by tha Premier on Saturday from, the Maori chiefs of the North:-— < : ■
Ehoa, tenakoe. Many ihappy returns of this your natal day. May good health* and happiness ever be your sun in winter and your shade in summer. Kia ora tonu koe, from your tamax'ik's. - The Premier has received congratulations from the following eminent personages : — Dttke and Duchess of Cornwall, his Excellency the'. Governor and Lady Rahfurly, his Excellency the' Admiral, tiie;. Primate of Auckland'(Bishop Cciwie), the German Consul at Auckland.
Messages have been sent also from Port Darwin, in the extreme north of Australia, and from various places from tha North Caps to the iiluff.
The Eight Hours' Demonstration Committee of Dunedin sent the following mes-
sage:— "Wish you many happy returns of the glorious 22nd. May you live long to enjoy many hapn- birthdays, and that health and succ«si always attend you is the fervent wish of this Association. Signed, G*. A. Pearce, Piesident."
v Mr Ssddon has not teen forgotten by the boys of the West Coast, for the Greymouth I Cadets sent a telegram conveying their hearty congratulations.. Another characteristic message is one ■which a gentleman sends from his son, who is now on active service with the Sixth Coni tingent. The trooper was also born on the ■ same day a<s the Premier. "Many happy returns of this Diamond Jubilee," runs anotbti telegram.
