THE INFANTRY CAMP.
The infantry camp at Addington, under the superintendence of Major H. S. E. Hobday, D. A. A.8., and set out under SergeantMajor Coleman's able direction, is one of the best arranged volunteer encampments we have yet seen. It includes 436 tents, affording accommodation for an army of fifteen hundred men. The tents are in blocks of forty each, and six blocks are devoted to the Wellington infantry, one to Otago, one to ICelson, one to South Canterbury, and one block to the ordnance battalion. Four tents will be allotted to each company. Eighteen of the tents are set apart for the battalion officers, ten for headquarters staff, and two as guard tents. The tented village also includes a brigade office, and two marquees for the officers' mess. A hospital marquee fills the bill. The work of erection was carried out in three days. Every convenience connected with a wellregulSbed camp bas been provided, and water is laid on from the Central Dairy .■Factory in pipes and convenient taps. The commissariat looms large in a tine galvanised iron shed, where the storekeeper, Mr F. A. Cook and his well-drilled army commenced yesterday. There was a goodly display of prime Canterbury banging ready for Some excellent meals, and every preparation seemed to be complete.
