At last an appreciable rise has taken place at Timaru in the price of oats. The advance took place on Saturday last, the day after wTiich values were pbtained for ia4=.rticn in last Saturday's issu?. But while oats have shown this firm, tendency, wheat has made no and values for this cereal r'mcu'n tli* same as last weak. There is good prime Tuscan, but tt&re are no sellers." For this 2s 5d has been offered, and 1 , possibly, more could be obtained, if 'growers could bs incfoioed to sell. There is plenty of feed barley, but growers wi'J. not accept wihat buyers are offering, which is from Is 3d to Is 6d per bushel. Growa-s are asking Is 9cL There is inquiry for prime malting barley at 2s 2d to 2s 3d, but vary little ie offering. Oats are now worth Is 6ct per. bushel, delivered at Timaru. This is an all-round quotation, and prime Canadians by themselves are worth Is 7d per bushel, a distinct rise on last week's quotations. Potatoes continue to more than hold their own, and prices are advancing every week. It is predicted, however, that tihe prioewiil not keep up, as th? demand will slacken if prices become too •high, consequent upon a iessaned consumption. Potatoes are now worth from £3 5s to £3 IDs per ton, f.o.b. There are not very many offering at present.
