At th« half-yearly meeting of the Kauri Company, the Chadnnan congratulated the shareholders on the satisfactory position, and the increasing demands for the timber. The credit surplus waa £23,550, against a total credit of £42,000 in the previous June. The company would lose nothing by. thn defalcations of the late roanaging director in Auckland. The whole of the embezzled money had been recovered. The amount involved in connection with the committal for trial of one of the company's Melbourne officers would not exceed £1300. Beyond these two unfortunate incidents the affairs of the company were in every way satisfactory and prosperous. It was not intended to declare an interim dividend, as it waa necesary to pay interest and sinking fund on July Ist.
