HUNTING.

(yHOM A COKRESPOSDINT.)

The.Ohristchurch hounds nut at Darfieid on 18th. Quite a number of people werit "up from Ohristchurch by train, and, considering how unfavourable the weather has been this season for hunting, it was surprisinf that so many turned out. About eleven o'clock a light nor'-wester blew, but, nevertheless, the scent during the day was very fair. Air W. Long kindly met the party, who jogged down the rojd to his farm! A hare was found almost immediately, and as we galloped down over the first fence, two ladies and also two or three came to grief. Both ladies soon mounted their horses again. The hare doubled back towards Darfieid, and was lost in a plantation. This was the first of three or four similar short, fast runs. A strong hare was put up about two o'clock, and we had a splendid run, lasting nearly an hour. Several wire fences, also some stiff road doubles, were negotiated in safety. Ultimately the hounds bowled puss clean over on the road almost in front of everybody, making an appropriate finish to an enjoyable day's sport. The ladies, Mesdanies Hail, BTawkes, and Woodroffe, JNiiss Earl, Miss Gerard, and Miss R. Gerard, went wonderfully well. Among the most prominent of tils gentlemen were Messrs Hall, Bond, Stead, Neave, Bassett, Gillandera (2). Several local residents were out jumping. Mr McLean's Rex, Huntingdon, and Surrey, and Mr Bourne's Artillery gelding were qualifying.

Tbe coontry hunt«d over by the Ghristcfaurcii hounds at Darfieid on Tuesday was the property of Messrs Henley, Langdale, W. Long, and Clinton.
