ASHBURTON
The Ashburton School Committee met on Monday evening. Present —'Messrs W. Craighead tehairman), A. Hewson, Steele, Phaup, McCallum, Beckingham, Dr. Hunter, Rev. T. Fee. An apology was received for tlis absence of Mr H. M. Jones. Sirs Smith, caretaker "of the Ailenton school, was given on increase of 10s per quarter in her salary. The head master reported the average attendance for the pasfc month had been 355.5; the number on the roll was 405, highest attendance 393. It was reported that Mr Ormanby, a Christchurch student, was temporarily relieving the seci**i master, Mr D. Grant, who was away on leave of absence. The average attendance at the Ailenton Side school had been for the month 78.2, roll number 87, Irighest attendance 85. The Rev. T. Fee and Mr Steele were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
