AN ASSASSIN COMMITS SUICIDE.
THE MURDERER OF KING HUMBERT

Bresci, who murdered the King of Italy, has committed suicide in a penitentiary at Santa Stefaao. [King Humbert was assassinated at Monza on July 29th of last year, as he was leaving after a distribution of prizes in connection with a gymnastic competition.. Three shots from a revolver were fired at him by a young anarchist, named Gaetano Bresci, "who had lived in America, but was born in Italy. The country received the news with every demonstration of grief and horror, and expressions of sympathy were received from every foreign ruler. The deceased King's heir, Victor Emmanuel 111., was yachting at the time in Greek waters, but at once returned, and swore loyalty to the Constitution in the presence of Parliament, on August llth. The assassin Bresci was tried at Milan, on August 29th, and, being found guilty, Was sentenced to penal servitude for life, with solitary confinement, there being no capital punishment in Italy.]
