MINING NEWS.
A Wellington Press Association telegram states that Cause 83 of the Mining Regulations has been amended as follows:—(1) By repealing sub-clause 2 thereof, and substituting in lieu thereof the following;—-"In every case where the Warden or the inspector notifies the owner or manager of a dredge that a stream ifct which a dredge is being constructed, or worked, is deep or swift-flowing, then, in addition to the foregoing appliances, the dredge shall be kept provided with not less y tban two boats, inclusive of the boa]>. required to be kept under sub-olause 1 hereof, and each. of such boats must be continuously furnished with lifebuoy, light line, not less than 50 feet in length, and a boathook not less than 7ft long. Life belts shall be provided, and each member of the crew of any boat shall wear a lifebelt when engaged in shifting the mooring lines of the dredge." .
