Correspondents on the Gold Coast foreshadow a formidable rising of natives, tbe Adansis and even the Bekwais. [The Adansis were among our foes m last year's campaign in Asbanti, when the Governor of the Gold Coast and a garrison were besieged in Kumassi. The Bekwais on that occasion were loyal to the British, and were themselves attacked by the Ashantis.] PROTECTING NEW ZEALAND MUTTON. (Received May 23rd, 9.49 p.m.) LONDON, May 23. At Mr Reeves's instance three large Liverpool meat-dealers were each fined £10, with seven guineas costs, for selling meat from other countries as New Zealand meat.
