(PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAMS.) AUCKLAND, May 2. The Auckland Customs returns for the month of April show the net Customs, duties amounted to £44,515, as against £3.,664 for April last year. Tha beer duties totalled £14... as agi.inst £1619. The gold export amounted to 15,93 .us, valued at £57,154, as against 15.95.07„ valued at £59,689; and the silver export 34,1140_, valued at £3502, as against 2b,1420z, valued at £2994. The butter exported was 974cwt., valued at £4178, as against 1 .Sewt. last year, valued at £713; cheese exported was 351cwt., valued at £719, as against 2-3.cwt. Tho export of beef wax 3851cwt., valued at £4491, as against 3977cwt., valued at £.640; lamb, 12,331 carcases, weighing 4003cwt., valued at £6050, as against 8 .51 carcases, weighing Sss74cwt., valued at £3838; mutton. 3520 carcases, equivalent to 1802cwt., valued at £2161, as against 3447 carcases, weighing 1675cwt., valued at £1956. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 2. Tho trawler Doto left for Nelson this morning. Yesterday she had a successful cruise off this coast, obtaining a variety of good fish, including lemon soles. WELLINGTON, May 2. Tho annual general meeting of Sharland an_ Co. was held to-day. The report and balance-sheet, showing a net profit of £4121, and recommending a dividend of 6 per cent., were passed. The retiring Board of Directors were re-eiected, and a bonus of £100 was vot_d to the Chairman for his services for the past year, and the remuneration of directors fixed at £3tiu, ins.t.ad o? £200. Tho total receipts of tho Wellington City Council for the y*ar ending March 31?t were £15, .85. Tli3* principal heads of revenue were:—Rates £69,284, tramways £12.265, and rents £10.847. The expenditure was £156.126. repairs to streets, etc, £21,496, waterworks £12,319. sinking funds £"527, drainage scavenging £3501. tramways £20.258. fire brigade £5581. Jfhe bank account shows a credit of £25.653. DUNEDIN. May 2. The question of a new graving dock of much larger dimensions than the present dock was mentioned by the Chairman of the Dock Trust to-day", but consideration was deferred till another meeting.
