MR H. G. GLADSTONE AND THE LIBERALS.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received May Ist, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 50. In the course of an address at West Leeds, Mr H. J. Gladstone. M.P., declared that no alternative to the present Government was actually possible. His declaration greatly irritated the Liberals at the time, and Mr Gladstone now explainthat he made the statement in order to emphasise the necessity of converting the electorate to the Liberal party's doctrines.
