WOOL SALES AT DUNEDIN.
(PEESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, April 16. Some more of the avool from the Strath - gryfe. on avhich a fire broke out on the \-oyage from Sydney to London, avas sold to-day. Messrs Dalgety and Co. submitted 428 bales. There was a large attendance, and spirited bidding. The avool avas almost entirely merino, of excellent quality, and in nice condition, though many lots contained both Bathurst and trefoil burr. Though slightly damaged by salt water, buyers competed until one lot of scoured merino aaas run up to £14 per bale, and a line of greasy merino realised £10 per bale. The average price aa*as £8 2s, as compared with £7 6s Id at- the sale on the 3rd. Messrs Dalgety and Co. consider the underwriters are lucky, as the avool market has ruled the highest in the colony. Several small lines of local crossbred avere submitted, but, in view of London advices, they did not meet much competition.
