The barque Inveresk left Monte Video for Otago Heads at the end of January. She has been chartered to tal:e a general cargo from Nev; Zc-alaml to the United Kingdom or the Continent.

The Rotomahana arrived from Wellington at 8.-10 a.m. en Saturday, and left for Wellington ut night. The Moura arrived from Dunedin at 11.45 a.m., and sailed for Auckland via the East Coast late, at night. The Bri3bano arrived from Newcastle on Saturday afternoon. Her run across tho Tasman Sea occupied exactly a week. She encountered strong southerly winds most of the voyage. Tho Eiinganiite, from Sydney via Auckland, arrived on Saturday afternoon, and Bailed for Dunedin at night. The departure of tha Wauakn. for Timaru has had to be postponed in consequence of tho delay in discharging her, caused partly by want of trucks and partly by the holiday. On Saturday afternoon a yacht race for halfraters for trophy presented by Profesaor Scott, -was sailed in the Lyttelton Harbour. Mr Sinclair's Bettina was first, Mr Kennctt'a WateifoU'Cb. aecond, and Professor Scott's Water Beetle third. On Thursday Water Beetle beat Woterwitch in a match.

Captains McLellan and Murray have been appointed to act as nautical assessors in the enquiry on Thursday next into the circumstances of the collision between the Rotoruahana and the Kestrel.
