A special and ordinary meeting of the N.Z. Trotting Association was he.d last evening, when there were present—Messrs P. Se »g .chairman), E. Clarkson, J. McLean, G. _.. McHaffie, G. Bissstt, W. G. Garrard, A. L. Myers, and C. H. Howell. After the evidence, in tbe Cowboy appeal case, and the statements made by. the secretary and handicapper of the Gore Racing Club, had been heard, th* appeal was dismissed. An appeal by A. Kirkwood against the decision of the Westport Trotting Club in disqualifying his horse, Strathconan, in tbe Buller Handicap, was upheld.. The disqualification imposed by the Greymouth Trotting Club on W. Taggart, for foul driving, was endorsed. Two appeals against tbe action of the Vincent J.C. were referred back to the club for further information. A similar application by W. C. Herd against the decision of the Auckland Trotting Club in disqualifying Little Doctor in the High-class Trot, waa dealt with in the same way. An appeal against tbe decision of the same club by the owner of Talisman, in disqualifying his horse and awarding the race to Bavaria, was upheld. __. ' A notice of motion, moved by Mr Bissett, that the deposit in the Gambler—Mis3 Child case be refunded, was discussed, and, on being | put to the meeting, was lest by four votes j to three. A letter was received from Mr U. Shannon, of Wellington, explaining his grounds for informing the Association that Motuiti was identical will* the Sydney mare Cyrenne, and acknowledsinc his mistake.
