A meeting of tne Cabinet at the end of the week will consider the whole attitude of the Federal Government with regard to the islands in the Pacific.

The Right Hon. G. H. Reid, in the course of his Free Tif.de campaign address last night, said the question of the future was whether Victoria or New South Wales was going to lead Australia in the tariff cause. He strongly deprecated the want of definiteness on the part of the Federal Ministry in enunciating a fixed tariff issu«. He added that he intended to see whether the people would choose between Mr Barton and himself for their Federal Premier.
