.It was -with feelings o-f deepest sympathy and regret that the announcement was receiv.ed that the vicar, Rev. H. T. Purchae, had baen compelled, through, ill-health, to resign his charge of St. Paul's, and immediately steps were taken to show the deptb of feeling in a practical manner. A large and representative meeting was held in the schoolroom, and a Committee farmed to carry out the matter, the desire being to present tha rev. gentleman with a purse of sovereigns sufficiently 'heavy to enable him to tako a trip to England, which, it ie understood, is iiis desire.
