MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY.
At yesterday's meeting of the Board of Governors of" Canterbury Collogr a communication was received from his Excellency the Governor acknowledging tlie receipt of the Board's resolution on the death of the late Queen Victoria, and intimating that his Excellency would in due course forward it to the Secretary of State for the Colonies. Ths Chairman of tho Canterbury Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants has' received the following communication from his Excellency the Governor, acknowledging the telegram sent by the society expr_ssing their regret at the death of her Majesty the Into Queen, forwarded through the Hon. J. G. Ward; — "His Excellency the Governor desires mc to ask you to convey to the members of the Canterbury Amalgamated Society of Railway Servant- his sincere thanks for their expressions of sorrow on the death of her Mngedjy Queen Victoria, and their expressions of loyalty towards the King."
