United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 6th, 1.14" a.m.) SYDNEY, February 4. Mr Reid opened his Freetrade Federal campaign with a representative meeting, the Mayor presiding, in the Protestant Hali, to-night. He traversed Mr Barton's manifesto, and said the prospects for free trade were much brighter. Many people thought that if freetraders would give him a fair majority, this colony would promise them a majority in both Federal Houses. Mr Reid afterwards addressed on overflow meeting. The proceedings evoked much enthusiasm, and demonstrated that the divided sections of the freetraders have closed up.
