WATER SUPPLY BOARD.
The Waimakariri-Ashley Water Supply. I Board met on the 31st January. Present— | Messrs Horrell {Chairmen), Dixon, Chap* | man and Lance. The Board placed on re- i cord its extreme sorrow at the loss which | the Empire has suffered by the death of s Queen Victoria. -Mr Powell, contractor to., £ south of Eyre races contracts, intends**, cd £, the Board applying for an addition to the, . l contract sum due. The Board finally decid* *| cd to grant him £20 for extra works on | account of the low price at which he had | taken the contracts. Dixon remained on the Board, '* while the money was voted to his brother as . his assignee. It was pointed out that though *-] Mr R. 0. Dixon denied that the races made '• by the Board were any benefit to his pro* _* p'erty, ho had seen fit to extend two of them -" several miles. The Chairman reported that •=_ Mr G. Searles had offered to sell the Board 1 an acre of land at the Cust fe-r £22 10s. |. With regard to the Ashley Gorge main race, fi) a letter was received from Mr O'Halloran jf approving the surveyed line, oil-ring to give gj a free passage for" the race through hia j, land, trusting others would do the same, % and advocating proceeding with the work at U once.
