THE IMPERIAL TROOPS.

The troopship Britannic remains in Queensland from February 2nd to the Utb, reaches Adelaide on the 17th, Fremantle on the 25th, and Southampton on April sih. (Received January 2L-*t, 9.45 a.m..) January 21. The proposal to hold a review of the Imperial troops has been abandoned, Colonel Wyndham, the officer commanding, considering it impracticable. The men will march the streets on Saturday and Monday next.

DUNEDIN, January 21. Steps are bsiug taken to provide nee—sary accommodation for thc Imperial officers and men, and the hotelkee-pers and others are being asked to mill— provision for their accommodation. 'Tho troops will arrive in Dunedin by special trains at about 6 p.m. on the 2nd of February, and proceed by special trains to Christcliurch on the morning of the 4th. We have the authority of the Acting-Pre-mier, the Hon. J. G. Ward, for denying tlie statement that the Indian troops are not to visit the colony with the Imperial Contingent. The advices are that they have been directed to come to the colony. During his visit. U> Ashburton yesterday, tho Hon. J. G. Ward stated that' he would end-avour to arrange so that tho Imperial troops made a stoppi._e at Ashburton. He could not say how long their t_tuy would be, but would make it as long aa possible.
