VACANCIES IN OUR TROOPS AT THE FRONT.
(——*SS ASSOCIATION' TELTJtSRAU.) WELLINGTON. January 21. It has been ascertained that there are 193 vacancies in the present Contingents in South Africa, divided as follows: —Second Contingent. 80; Third, 56; Fourth. 31; Fifth. 26. The men now in camp are being given the option of joining any of these Contingents if thsy desire. Captain Cos_tore. of the North Canterbury Mounted "Rifles, has been appointed Quartermaster of the Sixth Contingent, and proceeds to South Africa with it. By the Tara-vera. last night. fifteen horses, for the Sixth Contingent, were sent to Wellington. These make the number sent from Lvttelton up to tlie full complement of 180. (SPECIA- TO "THT. -T-F-SS.") WELLINGTON. Jaauary 21. Captain Fulton's medical adviser will not allow him to go with the Sixth Contingent. Cuptain Fulton's spine -was grazed by the bullet that wounded him, and he will need a considerable rest before be is fit for active service. He is keenly disappointed that be cannot return to the front.
