The*ColoiUiil Office has received a further warning from Sir Alfred Milner that no one shuiild yet go to South Africa- with a viewto obtaining employment in the new colonies unless lie is in a position to maintain himself for a considerable time. The "Cologne Gazette" publishes a letter
from a German who fought on the Boer side and in now a prisoner in Ceylon. He contrasts his treatment favourably with that which he received from the Boers, and says that a good many pro-Boer delusions will be corrected after the war.
The Swiss Government has entered a claim for damages, says a Berne correspondent, for the expulsion of Swiss from, the Transvaal. !■ Two Boer prisoners who were capture* near Heilbron stated that their commandant had told his men that if the burghers surrendered they would be sent to fight the Chinese.
