Captain Thorpe, with his family, arrived from Melbourne by the Westralia yesterday.
Mr L. F. Ayson was a passenger for Wellington by the Tarawera last night.
Sir E. Gibbes was a passenger by the same steamer.
The Rev. Mr Stowell went to Wellington by the Tarawera.
Dr. Mason was a passenger by the same steamer.
Sergeant-Major Cardale went by the same steamer.
Dr. Shepheard was a passenger for Sydney by the Westralia yesterday. Dr. Johnston was a passenger for Wellington by the same steamer.
Mr Grant P. Parquliar, Misa E. Farquhar, and Miss N. Farquhar, arrived in town from Dunedin last night. Messrs J. S. Hayes and T. W. Petrie, of Dunedin, are visitors .to Christchurch.
Mr W. H. Hales, of Wellington, arrived from the north ivesterdav.
The Hon. Hall-Jones, "Minister of Public Works, reached Christchurch from Tinmru by last night's express. Mr L. P. Ayson, Commissioner of Fisheries, passed through Christchurch on his way to Wellington last night. Mr G. S. M. McDermid, of North Wairarapa, was a passenger from the south last nig.ht.
The Hon. C. C. Bowen is a passenger from Wellington by the Talune, which left last night.
Major Steward is a passenger by the same steamer.
Father Grogan is a passenger from. Wellington by the Talune. Mr A. W. Rutherford and some cf his family are at present staying at Hanmer Springs.
'Mr G. A. Paque, the well-known Auckland musician, is in town.
Mrs W. Johnston, of Waimate, and Captain and Mrs Hayhurst, were passengers by yesterday morning's express. Messrs J. Borthwick, London, P. Farquhar, and J. S. Hayes, arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning-.
Mr William Faithful left fox the We*t Coast yesterday.
