the firat head Bennie scored one, Jladdison following with one on the second head, and getting two in the third. Bennie ecored in the next four heads with two singles and two twos. On the eighth head Maddison scored two, following up with one on the ninth, and two on the tenth head. On tfie eleventh head Bennie scored two, and on the twelfth Madison got two also. On the thirteenth—the last—head Bennie scored one, making the score eqnal, ten all. In tho extra head Maddisen fleered two, winning the match—l 2*o FINAL. W. H. Brightwell (21) beat J. C. Maddison (13). Tho game at first looked rather a good thing for,the local man, but the consistently fine play Brightwell ultimately carried aim to victory. Maddi=on opened with a single in the first head and Brightwell responded in the soconu head with a similar score. On the third and fourth heads Brightwell failed to score, Maddison making one on the third and two on the fourth head. On the fifth head Brightweli scored two and Maddison followed suit on the sixth. Brightwell gob a single on the seventh and Maddison scored a brace of singles on tho eighth and ninth heads. Brightwell balanced matters on the tenth and eleventh by a couple of single 3. Maddison then got iv three on the twelfth head, and one on the thirteenth. At the fourteenth head Maddison failed to score, and Brackenridge got one. Total scores at fourteen heads —Maddison 11, Brightwell 8. At the fifteenth and sixteenth Brightwell scored singles, and at the seventeenth Maddison got in one. At the eighteenth head Brightwell got three in, making the score thirteen all at eighteen heads. Maddison failed to score at the remaining three- heads. On tho twentieth head Brightwell got in three and in the last head Maddison drove all his balls off, enabling Brightwell to score with all four. Final score: Brightwell 21, Maddison 13.

For third place Bennie (20) beat Underwood (13), and won third prize. Bennie got three in the first two heads. Underwood then followed with a coupe. Bennie then scored for the next five heads two singles on the fourth and fifth and sixth, two on tho seventh, and one on the oighth. Underwood scored on the ninth, tenth, and eleventh with iv single and two twos. On the thirteenth head Bennie scored a single, and on the fourteenth Underwood put on a Bingle, following on. the fifteenth and sixteenth head with two each, and the seventeenth head with one. Bennie then scored for the next four heads a couple of singles, and a three ajid a two, making his score 20 to Underwood's 13. The following were the results for the prize* at the tournament: — Rink Tournament (open to all clubs affiliated to an Association) —First prize, certificate, suitably framed, with the names of winners engrossed thereon, and gold medals (presented by Mr R. Stnithers, President in.Z. Bowling Association), of the value of £2 10s each: Christehurch Club (L B. Wood's rink). Second prize, certificate, suitably framed, with tho names of tha winners engrossed thereon, and gold medals of the value of JEI 10s each: Victoria (Wellington), Brackenridge's rink. Double-handed Champion Bowling Tournament (open to all members of a club affiliated to an Association) —First prize, trophy (value £2 10s) to each player: Morris and llcLaren (Dunedin 8.C.). Second prize, trophy (value £1 10s) to each player: Maddison and Wanklyn (Chrietchurch Club). Single-handed Championship Bowling Tournament (open to all members of a club affiliated to an Association), first prize gold medal (value £3) and certificate, framed— J. H. Brightwell (Newtown, Wellington). Second prize, pair eilver-mounted bowls (value £2) and certificate, framed— J. C. Maddison (Christclrurcb). Third prize, pair ivory-mounted bowls (value £1 ss) and certificate, framed— J. C. Bennie (Wanganui). On Wednesday in the semi-final for , the Rink Tournament it is interesting to note that Newtown (Prince) tied Christehurch (Wood), the winners of the liink Tournament on the twentieth head, whilst the runners-up, the Victoria (Wellington) tied Kaituna- (Sneddon) also in the semi final on the twenty-first head.
