THE JUBILEE EXHIBITION.

NOTES AND JOTTINGS

In the Workers' Section tlie judges in the tin, copper, and sheet iron work sections express regret that so iTw of the young people competed in the section for tin, copper, ami sheet iron woik, iind considering the smaJl number of exhibits, think that the copper work could not be much improved upon in quality, but regret that tiiere were not more competitors. In the section for blacksmithing, the judges regret that the exhibits in tite class so few, consid-eriiK; the very liberal pri?:ei< otfereil, and from the large numbers of young workers iit Christcliureli alone, they "think there should have oeen from 30 to" 50 entries, instead of only 6. In the class for moulding' iron and brass, the judges found it necessary to divide the iron and brass castings into two classes, as they differed yen , materially in manufacture anil composition, and this division had necessitated two sets of prizes. TLe whole of the work in all the classes is of exceptional merit, and .snows a great amount cf care and thought in production.

An addition to the side shows, which was very much admired, was mada last night in the shape of Mr Bachelor's exhibit of trained birds. The birds do all Knds of things excellently, and the whole show is well worth a visit.

The exhibition of the Rontgen Rays by Messrs Turninill and Jones was well attended yesterday, and those who availed themselves of the opportunity of inspecting the results were highly pleased. For to-night Madame Winter has arransjed a concert, and a, very attractive programme lias been issued.

The attendance yesterday of visitors to the Kx.nb.tion was yen- large. In addition to the hall being crowded, there was a considerable influx in tvs avenues.

A pianoforte recital v.ill be given at the Kxhibition Hall on Monday evening by Messrs Kmpson, L«win. and" Tendall. when an excellent programme will be provided from the works of Mendelssohn, Chopin Wagner. Greig, Raff, Mcskowski, Gottschalk, and Thalberg.
