. Mr Austen, lato of the steamer Hauroto, haa token charge of the schooner Medora, which h__s left Auckland for Fiji to take up the inter-island running. The Eleanor A. Percy, which was launched at Bath, Me., recently, is tho largest Wooden siX-masted schooner in the world, and the second one constructed, the George W. Wells, launched in Camden a few weeks ago, being tho first. The Percy is 431 tons larger than the Camden schooner, as the following custom nouse figures show:—Eleanor A. PercyLength, 323.5; breaath, 50; depth, 24.8; gross tonnage, 3401.96. George W. Weils—length— 319.3; breadth, 45.5; depth, 23; gross tonnage, 2370. The Percy is a craft in which time and money were not spared in the selection of tho material and the work of construction. About 1,250,000 feet of pine were needed. Her masts are selected Oregon pine, 122 ft long for lower masts, and lop masts 54ft long. All her fittings are of the most modern description. In short, except that Eleanor was christened with roses and pinks instead of an honost quart of good wine, Bho is emphatically up to date. The London Admiralty Court last month gave judgment -in the case of the owners of the barque Embietou v the Campania, arising out of the collision between the two vessels in the Irish Channel on July 21st. The Court found in. favour of the Embleton, and declared that nine knots an hour in a fog wa3 a greatly excessive speed for a steamer. On Saturday morning, July 21st, as the Cunard liner, Campania, was approaching Holyhead on her voyage from New York to Liverpool, and while going in a dense fog at what was describod as "dead slow" speed, she came into violent collision with the iron barque Embleton, about thirty-six hours out from Liverpool, bound for New Zealand. The Emb.eton was cut into halves, and sank in three minutes. Boats of the Campania rescued seven of the crow. The other eleven were lost. The Embleton was owned by P. Iredale and Porter, of Liverpool, and was a vessel of 11S6 tons.
