Both received a warm welcome, and the whole of the items by the other members of the company were well received. The company appaar again to-night. There wa** a very fair audience last night at the Jubilee Pavilion, opposite the Theatre Royal, when the combined waxworks, ki_ematoirrapb, and variety company gave their first performance. As mi previous occasions, the Williams* Quartette, in their items, were again the recipients of considerable applause,' whilst tiie songs given by little Claude Sullivan met with great favour. Mr Arthur Habn was j recalled on each occasion he sang, and was in excellent voice. Miss Olive Lenton, and j Miss Ida Clarkson, and Mr Charles Hampton also contributed items, which were exceedingly well given. The other items were also received with approval. The performance will be repeated to-night. Mr W. W. Collins lectured in the Lyceum |on Sunday on '"lhe Future of Religion." He ; pointed out tliat religion was split up into many sects, each one claiming to be tlie only true one, and said that she future rei ligion must be more practic. The glass works were visited on Friday mnrning by the scholars of the Doyleston Public School, under the charge of the headmauter, Mr Burn.., and the chairman of the School Committee. Mr Werner. An exhibition of glass-blowing was given, which was greatly -appreciated. An entertainment in aid of the School Picnic-Fund was given in the Russell's Fiat .schoolroom on Friday evening. Musical selections were given by Mesdames Hickson, Saville, and Wilkinson, Misses Rutledge and McGregor, and Messrs Fisher (with banjo obligato), Wotlierspoon, McNae, and Glanville; a reading by Mr Newnham,; recitations by Mesd-imes Piner and Sarilie-. and -elections on the bagpipes by Mr MeLachlan. The entertainment was brought to a close, with a humourous dialogue, entitled "Jemima's Wonderful Discovery." in which the characters were sustained by Mrs Newnham, Miss McGregor, and Messrs Newnham and O. Robertson. Miss Rutledgc- was accompanist. Votes of thank.' 1 were carried to the performers, to Mrs LLssaman, tbe teacher, and to Mr Newrth-un, who occupied the chair. Dancing followed, to music supplied by Mrs Sai ville.

The ninth annual meeting of the Fendalton Dramatic Club wis held in the schoolroom on Thursday evening. The report and b;_anc_-sbe.;t showed that the club had passed a successful year.
