ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) WESTPORT, December 3. Mr Robert Shepherd, an old and wealthy resident of this district, died at Auckland yesterday.
Mrs Barton, a hospital out-patient, was found dead in bed from heart disease.
DUNEDIN. December 3.
A five weeks' old child of Mr Donald Waters, of Glenledi, near Milton, was found dead in bed, lying between its parents, yesterday morning. Gustaf Whalbesrg, a single man, was washed overboard from the schooner Zior, near tlie Heads,., on Saturday, and was drowned. The vessel put about after and unsuccesefully starched for Whalberg, returned to Pert Chalmers, and reported.the mishap. Deceased, who was a Swtde, was aged twenty-oine, and had been at sea for ten years.
THAMES, December 3.
John Miller, a butcher, aged sixty-three, was found drowned near Short-land wharf this morning. He had suffered from insomnia lately, and was last seen alive at 10 p.m. last niftht. WELLINGTON December 3.
A boat containing five men from Petone was capsized off Kaiwarra to-night. Two of the four rescued are in a dangerous state from exhaustion. The fifth man is missing. His name has not been ascertained.
AUCKLAND, December 3,
The constable at Waihi reports that Antony Rasora. a fisherman, was drowned last evening. He went for a sail with Mies McLean, but the boat capsized, and Rascra placed Miss McLean on the bottom of the boat and then attempted to svr.ni ashore. He came back without reaching shore, and on ncaring the boat sank. Miss McLean was rescued.
