SAMARITAN HOME.
The regular meeting of the Samaritan Home Trustees was hei'd yesterday. In the absence of the Chairman", Xlr Bridge, Mr Sorensen was voted to the chair.
The Hou.«o Committee reported that the staff was working- well together, and that the Matron, Miss Early, was filling the post satisfactorily, and as she was proving a capable a;id painstaking matron the Committee recommended that her salary be increased. From January sth to September 17th Dr. Orchard had paid thirty-two professional visits to the "Home, and he had only been sent for when urgently needed. On one occasion Dr. "had been called in by Dr. Orchard for "consultation but otherwise the medical attendance had been gratuitous. A sum of £14 14s 6£d had been obtained from the sale of goods made by inmates.
The Trustees decided to increase- the Matron's salary to £60 jier annum as from the Ist of the present month; and that the Chairman interview Dr. Orchard with a view to makimi arrangements with him to attend nt the Home when his services were required. The report was adopted. The accounts for the past year had been received after having been passed as correct. The financial position from August lltli to October 12th was:—Receipts."including balance brought forward of £72 6s lid £175 2s 9d; expenditure, £119 13s Id; credit ba ance, £53 9s Bd. The total amount of voluntary contributions was £32 Is 9d
