LYTTELTON GAS COMPANY.
The twenty-eighth annual meeting of the Lyttelton Gas, Coal, and Coke Company, Limited, was held yesterday at the rooms of the Canterbury Caledonian Society. Mr Adam Chalmers presided. There was a small attendance. The report stated that the balance sheet showed a credit of £856 18s Id, out of which a dividend was recommended of 8 per cent., and the remainder carried forward. Following a report by an independent expert, sundry changes were introduced, including the appointment of a thoroughly up-to-date general manager and secretary; a more liberal attitude to consumers, and an attempt to reach a new class of consumers by the introduction of slot meters. Reference was made to the death of Mr J. G. Fyfe. The report and balance sheet were adopted, and Messrs Nalder and Trent were reelected directors. It was decided to pay the bonus of £75 to the executors of the late Mr Fyfe, and appropriate £100 for the directors for the year, £50 of which would be for the chairman. The auditors, Messrs E. S. Harley and F. E. Wright, were re-elected, at the same remuneration as last year.
