WORKERS' COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENTS.

After 2 a.m. the discussion on the motion for the committal of the Workers' Compensation for Accidents Bill was continued The motion for committal was carried on the voices. In Committee, en clause 4, limiting the employments to which the Act applies, Mr G. W. RUSSELL moved that the Bill be made applicable to agricultural labourers. After a debate this was lost by 26 to 20. A proposal to limit the definition of mining to gold mining was also lost by 37 to 8, and the clause retained by 32 to 14. At Clause 18, which gives a claim for damages priority over all charges on property, Mr ATKINSON moved to exempt those encumbrance* Bona fide given for value

and duly registered, which shall be protected only to the extent of twp-thirds the value of the security. This was lost by 25 to 15. The Bill was reported with amendmeatx read a third time, and pasfted. The Houae rose at 5.40 a.m.
