AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

The usual meeting of the General Committee oi ihe Canterbury- Agricultural and Pastoral Association was heiu yesterday. Air Geo. Jameson (president) occupied the chair.

Mr J. S. Holmes, Oamaru, wrote expressing surprise that the exhibitors of sheep were expected to have their exhibits in the pens for three days.

it was resolvea to reply that every care wouJd be taken of the .neep, and that the tradesmen's horses were the only ones coming in on the Friday. It was also decided to point out .nat this was an exceptional year.

Mr Murray -A ynsley, in the absence of Mr Staveiey. reported tnat the Finance Committee had visited the new rooms offered by the Agricultural and Industrial Association, and recommended the acceptance of the terms —■ £100 per annum for a term of seven years. This report was adopted. Mr Anderson reported on beha_f of the Dinner Committee, that they had accepted the tender of Mr Freeman. The report was adopted.

Messrs J. Brown, L. Wood, Gerard de Vries, George Baker, A. N. Burkitt, R. C. Dunlop, 4H. A. Montgomery. Robert Garrick, A. E. Todhunter, Wychliffe Goodwin, Thos. Wyllie, and A. Gunn were elected as members of the Association.

Mr Chamberlain suggested that the Committee should approach the traffic manager with a view to getting the trains north and south to stop at the Show Grounds on Show days. He also drew attention to the emallnes. of the gate on the railway side. The Chairman said he would see that the matters referred to by Mr Chamberlain were brought under the notice of the traffic

manager. The meeting then terminated
