CANTERBURY TROTTING CLUB.

A general meeting of the Canterbury Trotting Club waa held last evening to consider the .proposition of tho proposed scheme of amalgamation with the New Zealand Metropolitan T.C. It was decided, on the motioa of Mr Muiholland, that the Canterbury Trotting Club amalgamate with the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club on the terms submitted in. the proposal of the latter club, which were: —

"That the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club agree to take in. the whole of the Canterbury Trotting Club as members, and that names of the existing committees and stewards be submitted to arbitration. The C.T.C. appoint one arbitrator and the Metropolitan C.ub another, these to appoint an umpire, and their decisian to bo final and binding. The arbitrators to select a committee and stewards from t£e present committees and stewards of the two clubs." Mr T. C. M. Rallinshaw was appointed as arbitrator to represent the olub. A bonus of 25 soys was voted to the secretary _ for his extra duties incurred in connection with the last race meeting, and the original committee of thirteen were made life members of the club.

The Spring Meeting of the Australian Jockey Club will be continued to-day, when the Craven Plato will form the chief attraction.

A meeting of the Amberl-y Steeplechase Club waa held on tho 10th inst., Mr F. Courage in the chair. The interim balance sheet was passed, and all outstanding accounts passed for payment. The meeting leavea the club with a small balance in hand. Votes of thanks were passed to the handicappers, clerk of course, and other hon, officials.

The Brackenfield Hunt Club met on the 10th inst, Mr G. B. Starky in the chair. The balance sheet on being read showed a deficit of £71. The chairman said he,wished to impress upon members the necessity of keeping up their subscriptions, and endeavouring to place the club in a better financial position.
