OFFICIAL FORECAST FROM 9 ft.m. TUESDAY. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEQBAM.) WELLINGTON, September 11. Wind—Gale from between north-east and north and west at all places northward of the East Cape, Taupo, and New Plymouth, strong from the same direction b_twc__ the East Cape, Taupo, and Napier, strong from between north-east and east and south, and increasing to a gale after sixteen to twenty hours from Napier and New Plymouth southward to Kaikoura and Hokitika, moderate to strong from th© northward at all other places. Barometer—Fall everywhere. Sea— Heavy on the East Coast north of the East Cape, also on the west coast north of New Plymouth, and between Cape Farewell and Westport, moderate southward of Kaikoura, an easterly swell then to Castlepoint. ! Tides—High, north of t_e' East Cape and ' Cape Egmoat, and between Cape Farewell i and Westport; good from thence southward jon the west coast, moderate elsewhere. Rain is probable- southward of Kaikoura I j and Hokitika. Warning signals for northerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria van Diemen and Tiritiri, and for easterly gales at Capes | Campbell, Farewell Spit, and Foul-vyind. ! SYNOPSIS OF THE PREVIOUS 24 HOUSS. Slowly decreasing pressure north of the East Cape, Taupo, and Raglan, little movement anywhere else There i3 an easterly gala north or the Thames and Kaipara, and there has been a good deal of rain in • that part of the country. A low pressure is about 250 miles west of the North Cape, travelling to about the S.S.E. A low pressure from the west will pass east in the meridian of the South Capo. YESTERDAY EVENING'S REPORTS. The following reports received by Captain Edwin, R.N., show the weather on September 11th, at 5 p.m.:— __anujkau Heads—Wind, N.E., moderate gale; baro., 30.03; therm., 62; gloomy, sea smooth. New Plymouth—Wind, E.N.E.* light; baro., 30.02; therm., 59; gloomy, sea lumpy. Castlepoint—Wind, E., breeze; baro., 30ilS; therm., 57; fine, sea moderate. Wellington—Wind, N., light; baro., 29.97; therm., 54; gloomy. Westpqrt—Wind, N.E., light; bare, 29.95; therm., 56; showery, sea rough. Kaikoura—Calm; baro., 30.03; therm., 54; gloomy, sea smooth. Oamaru—Calm; baro., 30.07; therm., 48; gloomy, sea moderate. Bluff—Wind, S.E., light; bare, 29.90; therm., .49; foggy. THE WEATHER IN AUSTRALIA. Tie following 9 a.m. weather reports from Australian stations have been received:— Albany, September 10th—Wind, S.; baro., 30.10; s_ov,'ery. Hobart, September 10th—Calm; baro., 30.20; fine. Sydney, September 11th—Wind, W.; baro., 30.10; fine. Captain Edwin reports:—Pressure has decreased at both Albany and Sydney, but it lias increased at Hobart. A low pressure, travelling to about south-east by south, is about 200 miles west of Cape Maria van Diemen. A low pressure from the west, of decreasing energy, is passing to the southward, and will probably be east of the meridian of the South Cape by noon to-morrow. One also from tho west will pass eastward on the 15th.
