Cooper and Macdermott's -Cinematograph entertainment "Britain and Boer" drew a good house at the Theatre Royal lost night, All the pictures are very good indeed, especially those depicting scenes in connection with the South African war. The musical selections on the eolossophone wero loudly applauded. The exhibition will be repeated this evening. The Oddfellows' Hall was filled last night, when Fuller's Bijou Company celebrated their first year's continuous entertainments. Mr Charles Faning gave a new sketch very successfully, and the turns of Messrs Herbert. Douglass, Lennon and Hyman and the Misses Myra James, Georgie Devoe and Rose Belmont all went well. Tho company appear again this evening. There was a very large attendance last night at the Opera House, when the Dix Gaiety Company repeated their programme very successfully. Mr Bain, who has established himself "as a prime favourite with the audiences, had to respond to a number of redemands, his songs creating great amusement. Mis 3 Ida Rosslyn gave a coon dance well, and Miss Zesch sang "Estudianacceptably. All the other items went well, especially* Mr Lazern's conjuring, feats. The programme, however, though good, is still too long, and would bear condensation somewhat. The company appear again to-night. A meeting of the Committee of the Christchurch Cycling Club waa held on Monday, the sub-captain (Mr J. Burgess)' in the chair. Mr Ell, M.H.R., forwarded the proposed Cycle Path Bill to the club, and it was left over for a week to enable membors to study it. It was agreed to enter a team for the inter-club road raca, for the prize offered by the Dunlop Tyre Company. It was also decided that the secretary co-operate with the other clubs re the training fees charged at Lancaster Park, the opinion being that bona fide racing members should not b. charged. Mr Guy Thornton, an evangelist, who wafer some time associated! with Dr. Yateman, the American revivalist, and who has been conducting similar missions with much success in some of the southern towns, commenced a mission in Sydenham on Sunday last. Since then the mission is gaining in interest, and last night Mr Thornton gave a powerful address. To-night lie will speak again.
