CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY.

The Christ-biu-ch Presbytery met at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. The commission appointed to visit the Akaroa district, reported the result of their visit to the pastorate. On every hand there were indications of progress, and the Rev. Mr Jamieson was .effioiently administering the affairs of the church there, and the attendance at his services increasing. A beautiful church had been erected at Pigeon Bay at a cost of £700 and opened free of charge. The Presbytery adopted the report, and sympathised with minister and people in the exceptional difficulties of the charge owing to the great distances to be travelled, and congratulated them on the progress being made. The Eevs. Kodger, Doull, and McDonald were appointed a commission to visit Sefton. The induction of the Rev. J. McKenzie, of tha Thames, to the charge of St. Andrews church, Christchurch, was fixed for Thursday, October 4th, the Rev. R. S. Allan to preside, the Rev. R. W. Jackson to preach, the Rev. Dr. Elmslie to address the minister and the Rev. Dr. Erwin to address the people. At his own request t_e Rev. R. S. Allen was relieved of the moderatorship of the vacant charge of St. Peter's, and the Rev. J. M. Simpson was appointed to that position. It was decided to ask the ministers of Canterbury to preach a special commemorative sermon on Sunday, December 16th, the Jubilee Anniversary of the province. The Rev. J. H. McKenzie, Nelson, was elected junior clerk of the Assembly. The Presbytery expressed its sympathy with the relatives of the late J. G. Fyfe, Lyttelton, and the clerk was instructed to draw up a memorial minute, expressing the Presbytery's appreciation of Mr Fyfe's services to the church.
