In the Chancery division of the High Court Mr Justice Farewell granted an injunction restraining the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants and the secretaries, R. Bell and J. Holmes, from watching and besetting blacklegs in connection with the late Taff Vale Railway strike. The society intends to appeal. ATTEMPT TO SWIM THE CHANNEL. LONDON, September 7. Madame Icaceseu, the Australian lady champion swimmer, attempted to swim the English Channel, from Calais to Dover, but failed to complete the whole distance. She fiwam 20 miles in io£ hours. The re-fitting of the warship Archer has been completed, and she has sailed for Australia. BRITISH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION. Dr. Drummond Morier, Adelaide, has been appointed Australian representative on the committee to re-organise the British Medical Association. THE WOOL CRISIS ENDED. Tlie crisis amongst the wool firms at Roabaix, in France, is over. The banks are assisting the firms to prevent liquidation. AMERICA AND THE PHILIPPINES WASHINGTON, September B. The Government has informed the Canadkn Postmaster-General that the Philippines is regarded as American territory.
