MINING NEWS.
The first annual meeting of shareholders of tho Three —tile (Greenstone Creek) Dredging Company was held at Dunedin on Monday. Mr M. Adam presided. Several of the shareholders present expressed their gratification in finding from the balance-sheet that the original capital subscribed will prove sufficient to complete the dredge. The chairman explained to the meeting the vexatious dciay experienced by the company iv getting tho dredge completed, and assured the shareholders that the directors were using every means within their power to hurry the contractor up. The retiring director, Mr Sommerville, was re-elected, and Mr M. Pearce was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of one of the original directors. Mr Thos. Callander was re-elected auditor. Tho Sullivan's Lead Gold Dredging Company have accepted the tender of Messrs McGregor and Co., Dunedin, for the supply of machinery for their dredge. The tender is to be completed within ten months. The secretary of the Golden United Gold Dredging Company informs us that the tender of Messrs McGregor and Co., Dunedin, has been accepted for the supply of machinery to the company's dredge. The time for completion of the contract is nine months. The engineer of the Hatter's Creek Gold Dredging Company has reported on the claim as valueless. Some of the veriSors consider thai the claim has not been thoroughly prospected, and offer to bear half the ccet of further testing tha property. _fr W. _L Moss, secretary of the Hartley Colliery Company, received the following telegram from Mr Thompson, the mine manager, y-terda-y:—"Struck big seam, good and solid."
