Lie_te__nt-Oolonel Brake, with a thousand men and two guns, attacking them in front and on the flanks, defeated 3500 Ashantis, at Ojesu, a stockaded fetish bush town near Kumasi, killing fifty and "wounding many. Ojesu was destroyed. Many Lee-Metfords and Martinis were found. Colonel Brake was slightly wounded. Twenty-nine of his men were wounded and two killed. ' The flying columns have had a good effect in indwang the tribe, to submit.
