PEACE NEGOTIATIONS
THE CHINESE COMMISSION
(Received Kepti-mber 7th. 12.30 a.m.) HONG KONG. September 6. The Emperor has appointed Li Hung •Chang, General Yung-fu. Prince Ching, and Hsu-tung—though it was recently reported that the last-named had been beheaded—to negotiate for peace. These are considered strongly anti-foreign, ■specially Yung-fu and Hsu-tung.
