IN THE MATTER OF A PROPOSED LOCAL BILL OR ACT. PURSUANT to the provisions of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives relating to Local Bills, the Christchurch Drainage Board hereby gives Notice that Applicaton will be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled at the Session now being held and after the date of this notice for Leave to Introduce a Bill fo be called The Christchurch , District Drainage Act, 1875, Amendment Act 1900. The objects of the said proposed Bill are to empower the Christchurch Drainage Board (1) To borrow at such rate of interest not exceeding 4J per centum per annum as it shall think fit, such. Bums of money not exceeding in the whole the sum of £525,000, as may from time to time be authorised by resolution of the Board. (2) To raise and expend such loan for the purposes following: (a) In payment of suoh commissions charges expenses (including the cost of obtaining this Act) as the Board shall determine to have been actually incurred in connection with, such loan. (b) In completing the sewerage system of so much of the City of Christchurch as is comprised within the area. deScribed in the first Schedule to the said proposed Bill. ' KB.—The area described in the Schedule includes the whole of the City of Cbristchurch with the exception of Richmond Ward. (c) In making advances to the owners of Property within the said area in order to enable them to meet the cost of connecting any building or premises with the Board's sewers. (3) To issue from time to time debentures having a currency of twenty-five years, and charged upon the revenue as deI fined in the said proposed Bill, and to re-borrow at the maturity of the debentures for the repayment of the loan. (4) To levy a Special Rate upon all rateable Property within the said area to an amount not exceeding in any one year the sum of 2d in the pound of the annual value of such Property for the purpose of paying the annual interest upon all or any of the moneys secured by any of the said debentures. A Copy of the said proposed Bill is deposited in the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court at Christchurch, at which, place the same is open for public inspection. Dated this 4th day of August, 1900.
