The next of the series of popular concerts at tlio Opera House will take place on Thursday evening. The City Council, Sydenham and Linwood Borough Councils, will hold formal meetings to-iiight for the purpose of finally amending the burgess rolls. In addition to the usual racing festivities of Grand National week, the Kennel Club hold their annual show on Friday and Saturday next. A very large entry has come forward, all the classes being well filled. There is every probability of the Christchurch Catholic Oiub starting on its career with over a hundred members. There is a very large amount of most excellent material for such a club in the shape of debaters, essayists, etc., and under energetic management the Club ought to be a great success.' The committee to whom the work of carrying out the details of the ball in connection with the Ivy of Linwood Lodge has been entrusted are making good progress. A large number of tickets have been sold, and the gathering promises to be very successful.

As will be seen by a notification elsewhere, the Christchurch Meat Company intend holding a display of "prime Canterbury" meiat in their shop during the ensuing week.
