CONCERT AT THE CHORAL HALL.
The Choral Hall was well filled last night on the occasion of the Loyal Orange celebration concert in aid of the Indian Famine Fund. An interesting programme, consisting of vocal and instrumental music, was given, and was received"'with frequent evidences of appreciation by tlie audience. Songs were contributed by Mesdames N. Orton and R. MacdMaald, Misses L. Smith and L. Thompson, Messrs Charles Edgar, P. Hockley, K. Maedonald, A. Millar, and W. J. Barlow. A flute solo was given by Mr C. Rowley, Mr Winter Hall contributed a recitation, the Highland fling was danced by Mr C. Bell, and Mr Carpenter gave a bone solo. An efficient orchestra played the overtures, the- vocalists being accompanied by Mrs Edgar. At the conclusion of the first, part of the programme the Queen's Caelefcs gave tin exhibition of bayonet drill, for which they were heartily applauded. During the second part of the programme, on the motion of R_v. H. C. M. Watson, it was resolved that the members of the Orange Ir.sriiution desire to express their sympathy with the sufferers in India, and urge all members of the Order to contribute liberally to the Relief Fund. On the motion of Rev. Bro. C. E. Ward, the Orangemen and wr/raen of Christchurch sincerely congratulated Her Majesty on having attained her eighty-first birthday, and rejoiced in the heroism, endurance, skill, and success of Her Majesty's soldiers (Imperial and Colonial) in South Arica, and re-affirmed their fidelity and attachment to the principles of the Loyal Orange Institution. The resolution had been endorsed by the Executive of the Grand Lodge, and a copy is to be forwarded to Her Majesty the Queen.
