In the legislative Assembly Sir W. Lyno Jread a cable meisigv- from Mr Chamberlain announcing the Queen's assent to the Commonwealth Bill. ' Mr Chamberlain, on behalf of the Imperial Government, congratulated the Premiers and the people on the consummation of their patriotic task, trusting that Western Australia would shortly declare to join the Commonwealth, thus including tho •vhole continent, and enabling Australia to take her place amongst the nations under the Crown and conduct her future of progress and prosperity.
