RIVER BOARD.

A meeting of the South Waimakariri River Board was held yesterday. Present —.Messrs R. W. Engi&nd (chairman), Gt F. Carpenter, J. A. Glanville. R. M. Taylor, H. W. Peryman. and C. Burgess. The overseer's report stated that there had been no flood in the river for the past month. A lot more water was going down, Coutts's cutting than there was before last flood, and it had caused the main stream to come against th« south bank of the river about twelve chains above "White's bridge, and it had undermined the bank about two chains above No. 8 groin at Chaney's. About 36 acres of marram grass had been planted at a cost of £87 15s 9d. The report was adopted.

A letter was read from the Templeton Road Board, declining to take any action as to clearing the roads adjoining trie reserves. A resolution was passed request-ing the Templeton Board to give the tenants notice to clear the reads. The question ef the insuring of the men was referred to the Finance Committee.

It was decided to re-advertise for tenders for the right to cut osiers for one or three years, in one or two lots.

Accounts to the amount of £101 Bfe 3d were passed for payment.
