AUCKLAND RACING CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETING.

(Bγ Telegraph.) (FROM OUK OWy CORRESPONDENT.) AUCKLAND, April 21. The Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting was brought to a successful conclusion this afternoon. There was one slight drizzle just before the Autumn Handicap was run, but it then cleared up, and the sun shone out for the remainder of the afternoon. The rain which fell on the previous day and night made the track holding in places. The attendance was again very large, among those present being the Hon. Jas. Carroll. In the Autumn Handicap Advance put up the best performance a three-year-old has probably accomplished in Australasia. Hβ won easing up by two lengths, running the mile and a half in 2min 40 l-6th sep with lOat 51b on his back. The Wellington colt and C. Jenkins, his rider, were accorded a reception after the race which has never been excelled in point of enthusiasm on the Eldersiie racecourse. Record Reign also added to his fame, for he gained third place with lOst 91b in the saddle. The sum of JE9981 passed through the totalisator, making the large tola! of J632,094 for the three days of the meeting,.against £25,586 last year. Cannongate was the first to move, Donegal being quickest over the first obstacle, but at the second he came to grief. Bonnie then took up the running, only to give way to Leona in the turn out of the straight. In the run up the back Cannongate took the lead, and he was first to reach the home turn. Jumping the last hurdle there was nothing to choose between Cannongate.and Forty-seven, and although the latter swerved badly across the judge's box, he gained the verdict by a head, while Rapid Bay was seven lengths away third. The three Btarters kept close order until taking the seventh hurdle, where Kaimate was in front, and he led into the turn. At the last hurdle Kaimate was two lengths in front of Tim, and both were ridden out, the race ending in favour of Kaimate by a length, while Stray bird finished third three lengths away. After one break away the field were dis- j missed to a good start, but Advance was one of the last to begin. The colours of Rosella and Record Reign were first borne into the straight, then followed at an interval of a length Miss Dolaval. At the Grand Stand Rosella had a length's advantage of Record Reign, then in close company came St. Ursula, Laetitia, Auld Reekie, i'irefly, and Miss Delaval, with Advance next to the rails. Turning out of the straight Rosella and Recoid Heign raced for the lead, followed by St. Ursula, but a little further aa Record Reign jhad a slight lead, only to give way to Aula Reekie, who showed the way down the back. When the six furlongs post was reached Auld Reekie had a length the best, of Record Reign, and Advance ran into third place, while at the end of the next furlong the Wellington colt was just behind Auld Reekie. Four furlongs from home Advance drew past the leader, and Miss Delaval made a move forward.. In the Tun round the top stretch Rosolla lesffc her place, and Advance led Miss Delaval end Record Reign. Advance continued in the lead, and when heads were fairly turned for, home he had two lengths the best of -Miss Delaval, with. Record Reign three-quartera of a length away. At the distanoe the *-Whips were .out on the whole of the field, but Jenkins eat still on his mount, who drew away, and won in. the easiest manner by two length? amidst immense enthusiasm.
