AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.

le (By T_u__afh.)

te 1- (FROM OCR OWN CORSESPOXDF.Xt. ) i- AUCKLAND, April 20. ■c A lot of rain, fell to-day, which will make •c the course heavj- for the concluding day's it racing of the Auckland Racing Club's id Autumn Meeting. It was intended by the connection of Advance to start the colt in in the Autumn Handicap, but they may re-

i consider the matter to-morrow. If the in- ! clement, weather continues, the Maiden Hurdle Handicap, which opens proceedings, may be won by Cannongate. Of the five entered in the Hurdles, one of the stable mates, Tim or Yoleaao, reads the likely winner. In the Autumn Handicap Advance is «t « tremendous task for a three-year-old. On a dry track, I favour his chance, but if the ground is heavy Wright's selected, Rosella or Laetitia, may win. Mara should be equal to winning the Pony Handicap. A good field is engaged in the Criterion Handicap, the West Coast-owned St. Aida is t said to ba smart, but Winsome may be safest to trust. In the Welter Handicap Cadiz should prove hard to beat. Nineteen are engaged in the Grandstand Handicap, Dayntree and Minerva- IL read a likely pair. The Victoria Handicap may be won by Formula. To-day odds of 5 to 4 were laid on Advance for the Easter Handicap.

A special meeting of the N.Z. Trotting Association has been summoned for this afternoon, to consider the applications of the Canterbury T.C. and N.Z. Metropolitan T.C. to pass their programmes, and a communication from the Colonial Secretary respecting the first named club. Entries for the Dunedin Jockey Club's May Meeting are due to-day. Acceptances must also be made for the Nelson. Jockey Club's meeting.
