WELLINGTON, April 20. The Government Sanitary Commissioners now at Auckland have been requested to examine some dead rats found' at Rowick, to ascertain whether there are any traces of the plague.

The Government of Tasmania has telegraphed to the Colonial Secretary asking for the removal of quarantine restrictions against Tasmanian ports. No decision has yet been arrived at. '

CABLE NEWS.

The Government arc drafting a form of bond which passengers from infected parts are to be asked to sign, declaring their willingness to report themselves periodically for five days at tho expiration of quarantine. Those refusing will be kept, in quarantine for five days. No cargo from infected ports is to be discharged on wharves until fumigated in lighters.
